Celebrate with a complimentary Xhilarate massage at The Canvas Cafe – London’s first Happiness Cafe!

This year’s focus is all about reaching out and connecting with others. After years of happiness research, one thing has proved fundamental – the importance of our connections with other people. But modern societies are built as if the opposite was true. We are surrounded by people, yet we feel genuinely connected to almost none of them. The effects are devastating. Social isolation is as potent a cause of early death as smoking; and the epidemic of loneliness is twice as deadly as obesity.

We could change this in a day if we all reached out and made at least one positive connection. For the International Day of Happiness, that’s exactly what we’re going to do – through the power of touch!

Massage has been proven to stimulate the production of Oxytocin within the body. This is a hormone that is often described as the ‘love’ or ‘wellbeing’ hormone and is linked with the emotions of trust and security as well as feelings of optimism and self esteem. Oxytocin is also natures antidote to the stress hormone Cortisol. They are like the yin and yang of the stress response – when one is high, the other is low. Increased levels of Oxytocin help to soothe the nervous system, thereby helping to alleviate stress and anxiety. So by getting a massage you’ll feel both happier and healthier!

We will be providing free onsite chair massage at The Canvas this Friday 20th March from 12pm to 4pm. No need to book, just turn up. We look forward to seeing you!
